Tropical Spring Smoothie

Smoothies are a quick and easy way to get lots of nutrients and a boost of energy in one tasty glass. My go-to recipe has been strawberry, banana, and nut milk for quite some time. While reliably delicious, it can get a little boring. That is why I have been so stoked on this new recipe, and it even tastes good with my greens powder!

The two major players in this recipe are mango and pineapple. Mango is packed with vitamins A & C, fiber, and the antioxidants help support clear, healthy skin. Pineapple is also nutrient rich; filled with vitamins, antioxidants, and enzymes that are healthy for your immune system and digestion. I usually used frozen mango and pineapple but if I have a fresh pineapple on hand I like to use the pineapple core which is dense with bromelain, a natural anti-inflammatory enzyme. I use banana to keep the smoothie nice and creamy, plus the manganese, potassium, and vitamin C don't hurt either!

I always like to add collagen powder to my smoothies. Its tasteless and great for glowing skin, joint health, digestion, building muscle, and burning fat. I use Further Food collagen powder but there are many grass-fed and marine options out there. Organic is always best!

Greens powder is one of my latest obsessions. I've been using Amazing Grass Green Superfood powder since I did an alkaline cleanse last fall and I can really notice a difference when I incorporate it into my diet regularly. Its packed with greens like wheat grass, barley grass, alfalfa, spinach, spirulina, chlorella, and broccoli. One scoop has 2 full servings of fruits and veggies. All those greens are great for digestion, glowing skin, and a natural boost of energy.

Overall, this recipe has about 10-12 grams of protein. If you're looking to pack a little more punch, you could definitely add a protein powder as well. I think vanilla or flavorless would be best.

Here's my recipe (adjust to your tastes):

- 1/4 cup frozen mango

- 1/4 cup frozen pineapple (or one pineapple core)

- 1 banana, peeled and cut

- 1/2 cup water

- 1 scoop collagen powder

- 1 scoop Amazing Grass

Combine all ingredients in blender and voila! You have a delicious and nutritious smoothie for breakfast, lunch, or anytime!

P.S. I like to add frozen ingredients first so they have a little time to thaw and it doesn't get too clumpy before blending.
